Well, if you have a vehicle and you’ve been to the gas station recently then you’ve probably noticed the increase in gas prices. And you probably cried silently in your car when the dollar amount kept going higher and higher as you pumped the gas. Don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Gas prices in parts of the Borderland are reaching over $4 a gallon and honestly, at this rate, I think I’m going to start bringing my bike to work! (First I have to buy one though.)

Who knows where gas prices will be in a few weeks or months, but for now let’s take a stroll down memory lane to see what gas prices were like years ago.

November 4, 2015:

Our first stroll down memory lane takes us to northeast El Paso where according to this Facebook post gas was ONLY $1.96!!! *Cries in Spanish*

December 19, 2019:

Now let’s fast forward 3 years later. According to this Facebook post gas back then was a little bit more expensive than what 2015 gave us BUT it still was A LOT better than today’s gas prices. Unleaded: $2.08 Diesel: $2.64

March 2022:

Now let’s bring it to back to reality where gas prices are DOUBLE what we experienced back in 2019. This Facebook post pretty much sums up what most of us are feeling at the gas pump:

These two photos were taken in east El Paso where gas prices are over the $4 mark.

Well, as the saying goes, you never know what you have until it's gone. $2 gas prices.....come back. I miss you.
