The Psychology of Rex Ryan

The children of famous parents often have a hard time creating their own identity.Rex Ryan is no exception.  His father Buddy was a well known defensive coordinator and head coach for a large portion of Rex's life.  No matter what he did he was probably known as 'Buddy's boy.'  Until he was hired by the Jets in 2009, he wasn't known outside football circles.  He was the heavy set defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens who also happened to be Buddy Ryan's son.  In just under two years he has managed to create a splash like no head coach in New York since Bill Parcells.

His reality show antics, press conferences, and foot fetish videos have made him a household name.  Yes, his approach is unconventional but he has certainly made a name for himself on his own terms.  Rex Ryan, you are your own man and no longer Buddy's boy!
