Texans Predict What This Years Homecoming Mum Craze Will Be

The kids are back in school and Fall is right around the corner. What else does that mean?

Well, football season is slowly approaching and that means Homecoming season is creeping up on us too which ALSO means MUM SEASON!

What is a “Mum”:

Mum is short for the chrysanthemum flower. This flower was given by a boy to his homecoming date, cue “Homecoming Mum.”

Back in the day, a homecoming mum was a simple corsage for Homecoming or even for Prom. These days, however, Homecoming mums have taken a whole other life of their own.

I came across a Facebook Group, Texas Homecoming Mums & Garters, and I was IMPRESSED at how creative some of these women and men got when it came to creating Homecoming mums for family members or clients.

Every year there seems to be a new theme for Homecoming mums so I wanted to see what locals thought those new themes would be.

Top 3 Homecoming Mum Themes for 2023:

1: Barbie:

Number one on the list is of course, Barbie. We can expect to see many pink colored and Barbie themed mums this year for sure.

2: Peso Pluma:

Yup, according to locals they would not be surprised if they started to see Peso Pluma themed mums this year as well. I am very curious to see how those mus will look.

3: Mario Bros:

Another film that came out this past year that would be a cute and fun theme is anything having to do with the Mario Bros movie.

I can see a Princess Peach themed mum being somewhat of a trend this year!

Honorable Mention: Portable Air Conditioner Units

This next comment just made me laugh out loud because with the recent heatwave all across Texas, I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing mums with portable fans in them to help the girls stay cool!
