Ted Giannoulas AKA ‘The Famous Chicken’ Still Clucking After 42 Years
Tonight, The Famous Chicken returns to El Paso as the Chihuahuas begin their eight game homestand against the Tacoma Raniers. The team come back to Southwest University Park from a 12-game road trip with a 6 1/2 game first place lead over the Las Vegas 51s.
Ted Giannoulas first put on his iconic costume in 1974 as part of a radio promotion with KGB in San Diego. After more than 17,000 appearances, including sporting events, movies, trade shows, parades, and banquets, The Famous Chicken is the most well known mascot in sports history. He has his own display at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and it is estimated that Ted has signed more than two million autographs during his career. Giannoulas joined us yesterday evening after he flew into town to discuss his career and what keeps him going after all of these years as The Famous Chicken.
