As I type this, there is a press conference taking place at the Plaza theater in downtown El Paso. The Mountain Star Sports group, Mayor John Cook, and PCL President Branch Rickey are all on hand to make the official announcement that the sale of the Tucson Padres to the El Paso group is now complete.

It hasn't even been 24 hours since Mayor John Cook decided not to veto the vote for a $50 million baseball park after city council voted 4-3 in favor of the contract between the city and Mountain Star Group. So now that it's official that El Paso will play ball, take time to get to know a league that's coming to a downtown near you!
