Turns out that not-so-bold prediction we made yesterday that the ‘Super Mario Bros. 4′ would be headed to Nintendo’s new Wii U console worked out better than that bet we had on Syracuse to win the NCAA tournament. Mario mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendo would bring a new Wii U Mario game to June’s E3 expo in Los Angeles.

Better still for fans of the Big N is that Miyamoto also let slip that ‘Pikmin 3′ will be Mario’s wingman at the event. The news is exciting, but now we want to press our luck and ask for a smokin’ hot E3-way between Mario, Pikmin and either Zelda or Metroid.

Whatever the case, it looks like Nintendo is going to furbish the Wii U with some decent software — something it didn’t quite do for the 3DS.
