Sun Metro Suspending Operations on Thanksgiving Day & On Sundays
Due to the ongoing pandemic, Sun Metro will be suspending operations for Thanksgiving this Thursday and on Sunday’s beginning in December.
Sun Metro is doing their part to help encourage El Paso residents to stay home and help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
This Thanksgiving, Sun Metro will be suspending operations, including LIFT Services, and Sunday’s beginning, December 6, 2020.
We must all do our part and stay home as much as possible as El Paso is currently in a dire health crisis as the novel coronavirus runs rampant.
According to Sun Metro, deciding to suspend operations on Thanksgiving and soon on Sunday’s, was also due in part to a decline of riders “due to major retailers and restaurants closing to observe the holiday, border crossing restrictions, the annual Thanksgiving parade going virtual, and health official discouraging large gatherings.”
Residents who rely on public transportation will need to find an alternate ride as Sun Metro does their part to help fight the virus in our city by eliminating public interactions at transit centers and decreasing contact between operators and passengers.
For more information about Sun Metro routes, visit sunmetro.net or call 915-212-3333.
Health officials continue to urge El Pasoans to wear face-coverings around others and to social distance as best as possible. For more on COVID-19 visit, epstrong.org.
