The San Elizario High School boys soccer team dominated Kilgore in the state semi-final earning the Eagles the right to play for the 4A State Championship for the first time in the programs history.

Marcos Utajara and Edgar Corral scored a goal each in the first half and Edwin Marquez scored three in the second half to give the Eagles a 5 – 1 win. Edwin’s three goals tied a state playoff record for the most goals by one player. Defensively, the Eagles kept Kilgore scoreless until the 62nd minute. Goal keeper Alexis Cervantes recorded seven saves.

San Eli will play Liberty Hill for the state title at 1:30 p.m. our time on Friday. Way to go, guys, bring home the championship!
