UTEP men's basketball will travel twice for two scrimmages before they officially tip off their 2018-19 season against UTPB  (Nov. 6) at home, as reported by Jeff Goodman, a basketball analyst for Stadium.

According to Goodman's article, the Miners will travel twice on the road to face Grand Canyon (Oct. 20) and Texas Tech (Nov. 1) in two separate scrimmages. Official word on the scrimmages and ticket information has not yet been released by the programs.

Grand Canyon, the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) affiliate, finished their 2017-18 campaign 22-9 overall and were bounced out of the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) in the first round by Mercer (78-73).

Coming off a huge Elite Eight finish during their 2017-18 season, Texas Tech is entering this season as a Big 12 Championship dark horse contender. Under the direction of head coach Chris Beard, the Red Raiders are hoping to solidify themselves as a prime contender in the nation.

UTEP head coach Rodney Terry talked during this offseason on how much he wanted the team to play the Red Raiders and eventually establish a home-and-home trade with the team. The Miners initially were set to host New Mexico Highlands in a scrimmage on Oct. 30, but it will not happen anymore.

UTEP will officially tipoff their 2018-19 season on Nov. 6 against UTPB at 7 p.m. at the Don Haskins Center.
