Pat Knight’s Public Criticism of His Team Must Have Worked [Video]

Former Texas Tech head coach Pat Knight is back in the NCAA tournament this year.  His Lamar Cardinals won the Southland Conference tournament and earned an automatic bid into the 'big dance.'  They are barely in the tournament as a 16 seed and must play Vermont in tonight's first round game to earn the right to get drubbed by North Carolina on Friday.

Less than a month ago nobody could have predicted the Cards would be in the tourney.  After a Feb. 22nd 62-52 home loss to Stephen F. Austin, Knight ripped his seniors' character and motivation in a press conference that went viral.  Channeling his inner Bobby Knight, the younger Knight pulled no punches and went so far as to imply drug use was a problem within his team (SERIOUSLY).

The must have been a method to his madness.  After the press conference the Cardinals responded by winning their final six games, including four in a row in the Southland tournament.
