Oakland A’s Pitcher Brandon McCarthy Recovering Well After Taking a Line Drive Off the Head [Video]

It's always a scary moment when a baseball player, especially a pitcher, takes one of the noggin.  Position players don't wear helmets and are one freak line drive away from a career ending injury or possibly death.

Last Wednesday in a game against the Angels, Oakland ace Brandon McCarthy took an Eric Aybar off the dome piece.  He experienced an epidural hemorrhage, brain contusion and skull fracture on the play.

Yesterday, McCarthy was released from a bay area hospital after making a full recovery from brain surgery.
