Nurses Cheer as COVID-19 Patient is Discharged from El Paso Hospital
News reports detailing numbers attributed to COVID-19 in El Paso tend to focus on that day’s new positive cases or the total number of confirmed cases.
One statistic that doesn’t get a lot of attention is the number of recovered cases. But they’re out there; 70 as of 4/21. One such success story recently happened at Del Sol Medical Center. The hospital shared news of the patient’s “joyful recovery” on its Facebook, posting video of the elderly gentleman being wheeled out and cheered on.
“We were so happy to celebrate a #COVID19 patient that was discharged and going home today,” read the caption. “He…couldn't wait to get back to his family.” Watch below as hospital staff clap and shout "hip hip hooray" for the now former patient as he heads back to his loving home after a reported 4-day hospital stay.
