New Mexico State announced today that they have signed a contract with Northwestern to play on October 23, 2023, at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois. It will be the first time the two schools have ever clashed on the football field.

The Aggies' 2023 college football schedule also includes games against UMass (Aug. 26), at San Diego State (Sept. 2), at Hawaii (Sept. 23), against UTEP (Oct. 7), at Louisiana (Oct. 14), at Auburn (Nov. 18), against Liberty (Nov. 25), and vs. UNM (date TBA).

Northwestern finished 2019 with a 3-9 record and 1-8 in Big 10 play, despite going to four consecutive bowl games the previous four seasons. In 2015, the Wildcats peaked at #12 in both the AP and Coaches Poll. The Aggies still have one game left to complete their 2022 schedule, another three games to fill out their 2023 schedule, and two games left for their 2024 schedule.

This season, a pair of NMSU football games have been canceled so far: August 29th at UCLA and November 14th at home against Texas Southern.
