The Miners turned in yet another impressive performance to stay undefeated for the season and moved to 9-0 first time in school history with a 74-51 beat down of Northern Colorado.

Coach Keitha Adams joked with me after the game, calling her team "soft, like charmin" when I asked her if she thought her Miners would ever play a team that is as physical as the Miners are. Trust me, when I say she was joking, she was. Coach Adams knows how physical these girls are and that little spark in her eye, when she spoke to me, tells me just how proud of this fact she is.

Leading the way for the Miners was Gloria Brown, with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Brown was followed by, Anete Steinbergra, who had 11 points off a bench that produced 47. Kelli Willingham added a game high 9 assists to go along with 8 points.

The Miners seem to always shut down the opposing teams leading scorer. Tonight, that was UNC Jr. Forward Lauren Oosdyke, who came in averaging 13.6 points a game and only had 2.

Maybe the most impressive stat of the night, 9 Miners averaged at least 15 minutes of playing time and could easily had 12.  This is something that will definitely not sit well with the Miners remaining opponents.

The Miners 9-0 record will be back on the line this Saturday, December 17th, when they travel to California to battle the Lions of Loyola Marymount University. Tip is set for 3pm.

When the Miners return home with a 10-0 record, it would be nice to see more than 1,012 fans in the Don Haskins Center on December 21st, when UTEP will host UC Santa Barbara.

Coach Adams and her girls deserve better support than that.

Go Miners!
