The 2011 UTEP Miners have been no strangers to heartbreaking losses.  UTEP dropped their fourth straight game, 61-60, to UAB.  As bad as the Miners have been on the road this season (WINLESS!!!), they have been equally good at home.  UTEP hadn't dropped a home game since Dec. 28th.

The Miners came out sluggish in the first half.  At times they resembled the team from November that looked lost on offense.  Despite the sloppy first frame, John Bohannon's putback at the buzzer cut the Miner deficit to four, 31-27.  Bohannon scored a career high 20 points in the losing effort.

The Miners played much better in the second half.  They even took a five point lead with 11:45 to go.  However, UAB's Jordan Swings' sharp shooting kept the Blazers in the game every time the Miners looked like they may pull away.  Swings led the way for UAB with 19 points, including 5-8 from behind the arc.

Trailing 61-60, the Miners had the ball last.  Michael Perez had a great look, but his shot missed the mark at the buzzer.

The loss drops the Miners to 10-13 on the year, 3-6 in conference.  Next up for UTEP is a Wednesday night home date against Tulsa.
