Exactly 23 hours after FC Juarez defeated Puebla across the Border by a score of 1-0, El Paso Locomotive FC will host San Antonio FC at Southwest University Park tonight. The Locos will look to continue their strong play in group C of this altered and abbreviated season 2020 USL Championship season.

On paper, El Paso will face its toughest opponent thus far this season. San Antonio comes to the Sun City with an impressive undefeated record of 8 wins, 3 draws and 0 loses in 11 matches good enough for 27 points. Meanwhile, the Locomotive record is that of 5 wins, 3 draws and 2 loses in 10 matches good enough for 18 points.

With a win tonight, the Locos will remain in second place since New Mexico United blanked Real Monarchs 2-0 earlier today.

As for how Locos head coach Mark Lowry sees Saturday’s match, he commented, "San Antonio is very good defensively, they have only conceded 7 (goals) this year, but I think the way we attack we’ll create chances against any team and any type of system. I’m confident going into it, it’s a good game and I’m looking forward to it."

Saturday’s match will also be the third match in a row where fans will be admitted. During last Saturday’s match against New Mexico United the Locomotive’s front office quietly doubled the capacity at Southwest University Park to 1,519. The match was sold out and things went off without a hitch.

Locos GM Andrew Forrest spoke with 600 ESPN El Paso after last week’s match and confirmed the increase in capacity. Forrest also said that the capacity would most likely stay at 1,500 fans for the remainder of the season. Saturday’s match is expected to be a sell out as it should be as this is setting up to be the most exciting match of the season thus far.

For those of you not in attendance on Saturday night, the match will be televised locally on CW and nationally on ESPN+.
