With El Paso Locomotive FC about a month away from returning to the pitch for the 2020 season, the United Soccer League has put Phase 2 of their training protocols into effect as of Monday. The biggest difference is that non-contact outside training sessions have expanded from four to ten players. Coaches are also allowed to provide technical instruction.

Locomotive general manager Andrew Forrest joined me on SportsTalk today to discuss the latest developments surrounding the club's return to game action next month. Much is still up in the air, including the schedule, tickets, and other details. Forrest did say that every fan at each Locomotive home match will be required to wear facemasks for the 2020 season. Also, they are working on social distancing plans for their season ticket members, including the 8th Notch. The official support group of Locomotive FC could expand their seating area from section 105 to include surrounding sections 104 and 106. Despite governor Greg Abbott declaring that Texas college and pro sporting events can now seat fans at 50-percent capacity, that number is expected to be considerably lower at Southwest University Park next month for Locomotive home matches.

Expect more updates from the Locomotive FC coming in the next few weeks on new advancements, guidelines and more on the resumption of play.
