Kugler, Miners Satisfied After Earning Second Win
UTEP earned a 33-10 win over Florida International to win on Senior Night, improving to 2-8 on the season, and earning head coach Sean Kugler his first home win.
It was a dominating win as the Miners pounded the Panthers with its best rushing effort since 2011, 53 runs for 327 yards.
UTEP also had a pair of 100-yard rushers in RB Nathan Jeffery and QB Blaire Sullivan, who had 130 yards and 104 yard, respectively. It's the first time the Miners have had a pair of 100-yard rushers in a game since Sept. 29, 2007 at SMU when Marcus Thomas ran for 207 yards while Lorne Sam earned 106 yards.
UTEP passed the ball only seven times in the game, the fewest passes since a 1983 win over Weber State, coached then by former Miners' head man Mike Price.
Kugler, along with quarterbacks Mack Leftwich and Blaire Sullivan, commented on the win, UTEP's final home game of the 2013 season.
