Earlier today at Southwest University Park, Jamie Quirk met the media as he was officially introduced as the new field manager for the El Paso Chihuahuas. Quirk replaces Pat Murphy, who was promoted earlier this week to San Diego and won his first game as Padres manger today. Team general manager Brad Taylor made the announcement during a press conference at the WestStar Bank Club.

Quirk's team wasted no time in thrilling the home crowd tonight when they rallied from a 10-6 deficit to come back and stung the Salt Lake Bees 11-10. With the win, the Chihuahuas improve to 33-34 and are still in second place in the Pacific Coast League's Pacific Southern Division. After the press conference, Quirk told was asked why so many catchers have succeeded as managers in both Minor League and Major League Baseball.
