The first day of Summer is not officially until June 21st but that is not stopping the heat from taking over the borderland!

Afternoons are starting to get hotter and that means that locals are going to be looking for ways to stay cool this summer.

For people who can not afford an air conditioner, the City of El Paso offers them free fans during the Summer and the city is hoping locals will continue to help with donations of these fans.

The Extreme Weather Task Force is asking for new fan donations from locals to help them continue providing those in need with the fans to prevent any heat-related illnesses during the hot afternoons.

According to EWTF officials, about 300 fans are currently in stock but they are hoping to secure more so they can have enough inventory for those who reach out for a free fan.
New fans can be dropped off at any fire stations in El Paso and Horizon City.

Those in need of a fan can also ask for one by calling 2-1-1, but keep in mind that you will have to meet EWTF criteria to receive the free fan. Free fans are NOT given out at local fire stations.
