Texas Governor Greg Abbott didn't spend the first weekend of summer grillin' and chillin', he was signing a s***load of bills into law. Luckily, he vetoed one ...

Governor Abbott has gone over a TON of wannabe laws and, to date, has enacted 1,155 while vetoing or ignoring several. 6 of those veoted ... including the one that bans all THC products ... will be dealt with today, Monday, 6/23, in a special session. The rest will be addressed in July.

The future of THC products, and the entire Texas THC industry, is uncertain right now thanks to SB 3. By end of day, we should know how that goes - total ban vs. new regulations.

What Other Laws Were Enacted?

While some bills were ignored and a bunch were vetoed, a ton of bills were signed into law. If you're seriously that into this, you can read 'em all here. For now, here are a couple of the more interesting ones:

  • SB 10 calls for the 10 commandments to be placed in public schools.
  • SB 4 raises the Texas homestead exemption from $15K to $140K. For seniors, it's now $200K.
  • SB 17 bans people from certain foreign countries from owning land in Texas.
  • HB 46 expands the Texas medical marijuana program, widening the list of qualifying conditions.
  • HB 27 requires Texas public high school students to take a class in personal financial literacy.
  • SB 1596 allows Texas gun owners to own short barrel rifles, aka "sawed off shotguns" - rifles with barrels shorter than 16 inches or shotguns with barrels shorter than 18 issues.

These weapons were already legal at the federal level under certain conditions, SB 1596 pretty much just eliminates those conditions. Read about all the new laws here.
