A group of El Pasoans that have been doing good deeds around town for a while now just upped their game to help folks cope with the heat.

Welcome to summer in El Paso. Triple digit temps and all kinds of ways that heat can get to you. Not just in terms of discomfort but full on medical issues and even death.

Fortunately, in terms of dehydration, Sun City Pickers are offering some help for those who have to be out in the heat via water stations.

Sun City Pickers is a group made up entirely of volunteers who roam the city picking up litter. What started out as a simple "beautify El Paso" sort of campaign has now grown into a more humanitarian one.

Sun City Pickers are setting up water stations like the one above all over El Paso to help those out in the blazing hot El Paso heat stay hydrated.

The postman going door to door, traveling salesperson, neighbor headed for the bus stop, the homeless, walking the dog and forgot your water bottle ... whoever you are, you're welcome to stop and sip.

"In places like Paso where you have a lack of water and a lack of rain and high temperatures like in mid-100s, you know, people tend to overheat here," Burgess said. "So this is a great way of just getting people, you know, getting their thirst quenched, but at the same time keeping them healthy and, you know, hydrated." - KVIA

How To Help Sun City Pickers

You can offer them a spot to set up a water station or do it for them. They are, again, 100% volunteers and can always use another pair of hands. They also accept donations. To learn more, them on Instagram or Facebook. You can also email cleanupelpaso@gmail.com.
