Texas has some representation in the new Forbes list of the Richest Billionaires in 2024. One of the richest people to come out of El Paso, Texas is Paul L. Foster. He's one of the most well known figures in the world of oil refining:

  • He is the founder of Western Refinery in 1997, which later was sold to Marathon (presently is now Marathon).
  • Paul is also the founder & Chief Executive Officer of Franklin Mountain Investments, among MANY other accomplishments in Paul's career.
  • Paul & his wife Alejandra have also shown a huge amount of support to UTEP. Like in 2010 when Paul gave a $5 million gift to help renovate the Sun Bowl Stadium. He's also the co-owner for the El Paso Chihuahuas.

And of course we can't forget about some of the other contributions the Foster family has made to El Paso; they've given $2 million to the El Paso Zoo & $500,000 to help aid the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger food bank.

It should come as no surprise that Paul would have a huge fortune to his name, and he does. In fact he's made so much wealth, he's still considered one of the richest people in the world.

Where is Paul Foster on Forbes' Billionaire List?

Paul Foster is sitting quite comfortably in the top 2000 on Forbes' list; he's sitting at #1945 with a net worth of $1.6 BILLION dollars. That's actually lower than how much his net worth was in 2023 ($2.1 billion). BUT I don't think Paul's upset by that; considering how much he's done for El Paso, I'm sure that's what he's most proud about.
