El Paso’s Felini Film Cafe Was A Movie Lover’s Paradise
In El Paso, Texas, one chill spot was considered a movie lover's paradise!
I ventured out to Cincinnati street this past weekend, and while I left before the college-aged patrons got the party started, I couldn't help but notice how much it's changed.
As I looked out to Cincinnati street before I left, I couldn't help but feel a little bit sad that Fellini Film Café is no longer there.
Fellini Film Café was the hotspot for lovers of cinema. It catered to an audience who loved foreign and independent films; so naturally, as a college student who had just started taking film classes, it was one of my favorite places to go to.
Fellini Film Cafe was a great place to grab a latte or a sandwich and to catch the screening of a foreign or independent film. One of my very favorite memories was when I got to check out a screening of the Spanish horror film "[REC]" for the very first time when I was 19.
I can't quite remember when Fellini Film Café closed down, but I can definitely understand why it must have shut down- with Netflix and other streaming services available I'm sure it was hard to compete. After some brief research, this was the only photo of Fellini Film Café that I could find.
Luckily, these days we have Aaron & George's Film Café!
Located on 105 Texas Avenue, just around the corner from San Jacinto Plaza, Aaron and George’s Film Café is owned by New York native Douglas Winter and El Paso native Rebecca Munoz- and it'll make you relive the days of when Fellini Film Café was still here! You can check out some of the amazing events they host here.
