40 miles north of El Paso lies one of the most sinful cities in New Mexico. Nationally, they ranked 117 but in the land of enchantment, they're #2.

What is going on in Las Cruces? Is it the dispensaries? The strip clubs? The dispensaries with strip clubs? Gambling's illegal so, there are no casinos to blame it on.

WTH? The somewhat sleepy town, that is actually named after a religious symbol, is loaded with sinners?

Wallethub just released its most sinful cities in the USA list for 2025 and New Mexico has 2 of them. (Don't look so smug Texas, we put almost 20 on the list including the 2nd most sinful city of them all.) Albuquerque was #73 and and Las Cruces was #117.

Who Are The Most Sinful Cities In The USA?

Las Vegas has, for years, actually had the nickname "Sin City". Apparently, they earned it as they're #1 according to Wallethub. Here's the top 10:

  1. Las Vegas, NV
  2. Houston, TX
  3. Los Angeles, CA (No "angels" here, huh?)
  4. Philadelphia, PA
  5. Atlanta, GA
  6. Denver, CO (I would have guessed the Denver peeps were all too high to sin.)
  7. Miami, FL
  8. Dallas, TX
  9. Phoenix, AZ
  10. New Orleans, LA (The "Big Easy" isn't as "easy" these days I guess.)

Which Cities Sinned The Least?

Out of 182 cities selected across the USA, the teetotalers and goody two shoes can all be found here:

  1. Honolulu, HI
  2. Boise, ID
  3. Laredo, TX
  4. Bridgeport, CT
  5. Port St. Lucie, FL
  6. Portland, ME
  7. Fremont, CA
  8. West Valley City, UT
  9. Pearl City, HI
  10. Madison, WI

How Did Texas Do?

Being the 2nd largest state in the United States, I guess it makes sense that we would have a solid showing on this list. We had a bunch, including El Paso. I blame all the El Pasoans keeping Sunland Park in business.

  • Houston #2
  • Dallas #8
  • San Antonio #25
  • Austin #37
  • Fort Worth #62
  • Corpus Christi #83 (Really? It's named, literally, "Body Of Christ"!?)
  • Arlington #90
  • El  Paso #94 (It's the cartels, we're sweeties.)
  • Grand Prairie #102
  • Garland #106
  • Lubbock #108 (Damn college kids.)
  • Irving #111
  • Plano #141 (Is there even anybody IN Plano?)
  • Amarillo #145
  • Brownsville #165 (I've been there. They're too busy trying to get out of Brownsville to sin.)
  • Laredo #174
