Dale Earnhardt Was a Racing Icon & Loved Hunting In Texas
It doesn't matter if it's Daytona, Talladega, North Carolina or Texas, Dale Earnhardt's name is considered racing royalty wherever you go. The 7 time NASCAR champion is still widely regarded as one of the best (maybe THE best) drivers in all of racing. His black #3 Chevy is still remembered as one of the most iconic paint schemes in NASCAR too.
Those who knew about Dale, also knows that he had a love for hunting. Turns out some of his favorite places when being outdoors were a few spots in Texas.
Where did Dale Earnhardt go hunting in Texas?
It was revealed on an episode of the Dale Earnhardt Download podcast, hosted by Dale Earnhardt Jr., the famous fisherman, Hank Parker, told a story where he & Dale Sr. loved hunting deer at the Piloncilla Ranch in Cotulla, Texas, near Laredo.
Hank said that the two would go hunting there until Dale's tragic death in 2001. Hank would also uploaded an image on Instagram showing the two hunting in Texas; possibly at the Piloncilla Ranch.
That's not the only place where Dale Sr. would go hunting in Texas; there's footage of Dale deer hunting at the old Timmins Ranch in Hutto, Texas.
Of course we all know this wouldn't be the first time Dale would be in Texas; Dale would race at the Texas Motor Speedway 4 times between 1997-2000, with his best finish being 6th place during the inaugural 1997 race. But Dale's proudest moment, I'm sure, would come during the 2000 race when he saw his son, Dale Jr., win his first NASCAR race.
It's a shame to think of what else Dale Sr. COULD'VE done in Texas; maybe he would've done some more hunting or he would've finally got a win at the Texas Motor Speedway. No matter the case, Dale Earnhardt is a legend and we miss him very much.
R.I.P. Dale.
