Is A Potential Winter Storm Heading For Texas? Here’s What We Know
Over the weekend amateur and professional weather forecasters and enthusiast began raising the possibility that Texas, or at least portions of Texas could be impacted by a massive winter storm that could start as early as January 23. But some are cautioning that it's way too early to make these predictions.
Potential Winter Storm for Texas Later This Week
There is a potential of a massive winter storm that could impact most of Texas. It's also possible only parts of Texas will be impacted or that non of us will see any moisture at all.
According to some weather models, in particular the EURO model as of Sunday afternoon, is showing that the Texas panhandle will see snow, while a major ice storm will take place across East Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth, the Big Country, parts of the Hill Country and into West Texas. The forecast calls for a major arctic front to spread to South Texas and bring frigid cold temperatures across Texas.

Texas Storm Chasers posted on Facebook that it was just too early to make any predictions about Friday. They also reminded people that Texas winter storms are very hard to predict. And of course, they are correct. The forecast for Friday and Saturday will likely change between now and Wednesday and Thursday.
In Lubbock, Ron Roberts pointed to one model that shows a winter event for parts of Texas, but not as big as other models are predicting.
What Should Texans Do?
Relax. Enjoy the week and check out the weather forecasts as the week continues. If by Wednesday or Thursday it appears a big winter storm is approaching, then head to the store and get ready for a cold weekend. Never get too excited about a Texas weather forecast more than two or three days away.
