For years it always seemed as though the guys play football, and the girls were the cheerleaders. But those days are in the past as the ladies are showing off their skills on the field.

According to KXAN, there is now a college in Texas that is offering a women’s flag football team.

What Texas School Has a Women’s Flag Football Team?

It was last year that Concordia University in Austin, Texas that announced they would be the first to offer the rapidly growing sport at the college level.

In 2023, there were about 500,000 girls ages 6-17 who were playing flag football on a team, that is a 63% increase since 2019.

These ladies are competitive and they’re recruiting their friends to play with them.

Who is Coaching the Team?

The coach for the Concordia University women’s flag football team is Keenan Hughes, he was a coach for the 18u Red team at Texas Fury, which is an all-girls select flag football organization.
