As the novel coronavirus continues its unrelenting march across El Paso County, those looking to get tested for COVID-19 need look no further than Walgreens. The drugstore chain is offering no-cost, contactless testing at select locations.

Contactless means you perform the test on yourself while a pharmacy employee oversees the process and guides you. Testing services are free “to eligible individuals who meet criteria established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state and federal guidelines.”

Those who have health insurance should not expect any out of pocket costs either, but it would be wise to check with their health plan first to avoid any financial surprises.

According to the Walgreens website, you must first complete a screening survey online to determine eligibility. They’ll want to know about any symptoms you may or may not be experiencing, health conditions that apply to you, and if you’ve had recent contact with someone who has been diagnosed with or presumed to have COVID-19. If you’re deemed eligible, you’ll choose a location and time for your appointment.

El Paso County Offering No-Cost Testing

If a self-administered nasal swab test isn’t for you, the county is offering no-cost testing through the end of August. They are also nasal tests and equally super-unpleasant, but someone with the Texas Military Department Mobile Testing Team shoves it up your nose.

Testing is free and available for anyone 5 years or older with or without COVID-19 symptoms. No appointments are needed. For dates and locations click HERE.
