UTEP football fans remember the name Quintin Demps all too well. The former Miner star safety and ex-NFL player is now looking to give back to the El Paso community through his non-profit, The Quintin Demps Foundation.

Demps will be returning to the Sun City on Sunday to host a launch event at Hotel Indigo to provide information on how to become involved, along with a silent auction and a raffle.

The San Antonio, Texas native joined the Miners in 2004 and quickly became an impact player on the defense. He was named as a first-team All-Conference USA recipient in 2007, which is the same season that he had a pair of 100-yard interception returns. He's second in school history with 17 interceptions.

He had a 10-year NFL career that spanned with the Eagles, Texans, Chiefs, Giants and Bears. Demps was drafted by Philadephia in the fourth round (117th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. He emerged as a kickoff return specialist and then grew into a bigger role as a safety.

Now, Demps is a secondaries coach at Trinity International and wants to give back to the at-risk youth of El Paso.

Demps will be speaking to the members of the media prior to the event. A portion of the proceeds from his launch will go toward the UTEP Food Pantry and the Reynolds Home.
