I'm sure many of you have always dreamed of stepping into the batter's box or taking the mound as a professional baseball player. Well, now you will have the chance. The El Paso Diablos are holding open tryouts next month at Cohen Stadium. Here's the official team release from Director of Public Relations Lizette Espinosa.

DIABLOS TO HOLD LOCAL TRYOUTS

El Paso - The El Paso Diablos will be holding local tryouts on Saturday and Sunday, April 28th and 29th, 2012 at Cohen Stadium for the 2012 season. Players wanting to tryout must be over 18 years of age, and a high school graduate. Those wanting to participate are encouraged to pre-register for $55 at Cohen Stadium or by calling 915-755-2000. They may also register March 28th for $75. Check in will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with tryouts starting at 10:30 a.m. Players are responsible for their own transportation, lodging and meals. Participants should wear general baseball attire; provide their own wooden bats, helmets and catching equipment. Registration forms may be picked up at Cohen Stadium, 9700 Gateway North Boulevard, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or can be downloaded at diablos.com.

 The Diablos 2012 season starts May 17th. The new schedule boasts 9 Fridays, 9 Saturdays, and 8 Sundays. The Diablos will once again be hosting El Paso’s biggest and most exciting fireworks show for Independence Day with a homestand spanning from July 3 to July 10. Mark your summer holiday calendars since the Diablos will be home for both Memorial Day weekend (May 24-26 & 28-30), and Labor Day weekend to finish the season right (August 31 - September 3).
