El Paso ‘Dino Tracks’ Walking Tour Takes You on Path Dinosaurs Walked

Did you know there's an area just outside El Paso where you can walk along the same path dinosaurs did millions of years ago?

Giant lizards used to call what is now Sunland Park, New Mexico home some 80 million to 100 million years ago, and those Crocodile-like creatures straight out of the Cretaceous period left behind acres and acres of fossilized dinosaur tracks around Mount Cristo Rey.

On the first Sunday of every month, Insights El Paso Science Center tour guides will take you on a 3 hour, 2 mile hike featuring dino tracks and giant fossil beds.

The prehistoric impressions, including massive track ways where I’m told it looks as though a herd of dinosaurs passed through, was discovered by a UTEP geology student in 2002.

Dates for the 2020 walking tours are Feb. 2, March 1, April 5, May 3, June 7, July 5, Aug. 2, Sep. 6, Oct. 4, Nov. 1, and Dec. 6. Tours are $15. Start times vary depending on the time of the year. You can find more details and purchase tickets online HERE.
