The local non-profit organization Gold Out El Paso is inviting the community to join them for a fundraiser this Sunday, September 4th, to benefit an El Paso boy battling cancer.

Samir Medina, who turns 5-years-old on the same day of the fundraiser, has been fighting a three year battle with cancer and is now in need of a bone marrow transplant.

Samir and his mom will be heading to Fort Worth, Texas to receive that transplant and Gold Out El Paso is teaming up with the local food truck, Dia De Los Pescados, to host their 2nd Annual Pediatric Cancer Fundraiser for little Samir.

“We will be serving our Famous Baja California Fish Tacos and a drink for $15. Yes, our price is a few more dollars than usual. But it’s all for a great cause and 100% of every single sale will go to Samir,” read a post on the food truck restaurants Facebook page.

Last year, Gold Out El Paso and Dia De Los Pescados were able to raise $6,150 for Mila Mae and her family to help her and her family as she battles her own cancer journey as well.

Organizers are hoping that locals will continue to show their support by joining them for this 2nd annual event taking place on Sunday, September 4th at 2200 Zaragoza.

“So come on down and enjoy a delicious dinner! Support this amazing little warrior on his BIG 5th BIRTHDAY,” said food truck owners.

100% of the proceeds will go back to help Samir and his mom as they travel to Fort Worth, Texas for his bone marrow transplant. Expenses such as medical costs, hotel, and food will be covered thanks to the funds raised at this fundraising event.

Locals who head out to the fundraiser will also be able to enjoy El Paso’s Ghostbusters and El Paso Fire Department will also have an information booth set up that day as well.

Those who are interested in seeing if they could be a blood marrow match for another child like Samir are encouraged to take a quick swab test while at the fundraising event.
