Dak Left Off Cowboys’ 2021 Hype Video
Dallas Cowboys' priority number one this offseason is to get Dak locked up to a long-term deal. Unfortunately it looks like Dak and Dallas aren't that close to a long-term deal. However, it doesn't look like he'll hit free agency because the rumor is the Cowboys are willing to slap the franchise tag on Dak for the second straight year if no deal is reached.
Now, is it an ominous sign that Dak was left off the Dallas Cowboys' 2021 hype video?
The Cowboys are trying to say that leaving Dak out of the hype video was simply an oversight. Derek Eagleton, the Cowboys' director of media and programming tweeted out:
This was simply an oversight that should have been caught and corrected by us. Anyone who’s making it seem like Cowboys’ decision makers use social media videos to make statements doesn’t understand or take the time to understand how it all works. Trust me, there’s no story here.
Dak played under the franchise tag last year, which was worth $31.4 million. Should Dak be tagged again it's going to cost the Cowboys about $37.7 million. This would also be the last time the Cowboys could franchise tag him because teams are limited to two years in a row with the franchise tag.
Prescott was in line for a big payday last offseason but the two sides couldn't agree on the length of the contract. Now Dak is recovering from a nasty leg injury, so that throws a whole new cog into the negotiation process.
