One of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season has been the Seattle Seahawks.  They finished the regular season winning 7 out of their final 8 games, including the last 6 with their wildcard playoff victory over Washington this past weekend.

The Seahawks have established themselves as a well coached team with a solid defense, and an explosive offense led by running back Marshawn Lynch and rookie of the year candidate, Russell Wilson.  The team has proven that they can play with, and defeat anyone in the league by beating the likes of the Patriots, 49ers, Packers, Bears, and Redskins this season.

The big question is, can this team make a Super Bowl run?  There is no doubt, the team has gained the type of momentum that is needed to make it to the big game, and win it as well.  Some people have questioned their ability to win on the road.  They were 3-5 on the road this season, but the doubters became at least partial believers when the Seahawks erased a 14-0 deficit to defeat the Redskins 24-14 in Landover, Maryland this past Sunday.

Their next test will be taking on the #1 seeded Atlanta Falcons at the hostile Georgia Dome.  Any NFL fan or historian can tell you that the Falcons have a distinct home field advantage in Atlanta.  However, Atlanta has not fared well in the playoffs the past few seasons, even when they have had home field advantage.

My prediction is that the Seahawks will defeat Atlanta and then go to San Francisco to play the 49ers for a third time this season for the NFC Championship.  Will they prevail?  Let's just say that I think they have a great shot of representing the NFC in the Super Bowl.
