College football coaches trying to prepare their teams for a season in doubt are coping with a formidable opponent: uncertainty. The worldwide coronavirus pandemic has cast a dark cloud over whether their preparation will be a prelude to games or to disappointment. Several leagues have already decided to cancel their fall seasons altogether. Virginia coach Bronco Mendenhall says the uncertainty can be a distraction and an emotional drain.
