According to the El Paso Police Department, Friday, March 4th, 2022, a man who is a former coach from Del Valle High School was arrested for an inappropriate relationship with a student.
There's nothing worse than seeing the trust between an educator and a student broken by inappropriate behavior. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened at Del Valle High School.
30-year-old Mark Aaron Stephenson was arrested by officers from the El Paso Police Department Friday, March 4th, 2022.
"The U.S Marshalls Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Mark Aaron Stephenson for an Improper Relationship between Educator/Student. The Crimes Against Children investigation began after it was reported to the school staff that Stephenson was “too friendly” with students."
After questioning, Stephenson said he did in fact have a sexual relationship with a student.
In 2019 Stephenson was employed by Del Valle High School as a cross country running coach.
Del Valle High School and Ysleta Independent School District, YISD, have confirmed that Stephenson is no longer an employee and has not worked for Ysleta Independent School District, or at Del Valle High School, since at least the spring of 2021.
Stephenson was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Improper Relationship Between an Educator/Student, with a $45,000 Surety Bond and $1,000 Personal Recognizance Bond issued by Jail Magistrate Nunez.
