Once again, UTEP athletics is celebrating  National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The celebration begins Saturday, February 10th and ends Sunday, February 25th. Throughout this time the El Paso Girls and Women in Sports Day Committee will be honoring three young women for their talents with a local Flo Hyman Award.

From each level of education; elementary, middle and high school, one winner will be selected for the Flo Hyman Award. Each winner and their guests will be recognized at a banquet on February 10th . The banquet will be held in the Jonathan Rogers Hall of Champions in the Larry K. Durham Sports Center at 11:00 a.m. The winners will also be recognized during halftime at a UTEP women's basketball game on February 10th at 1:00 p.m. and a UTEP men's basketball game on the 24th at 7:00 p.m.

UTEP will be working with the winner's schools to recognize them at their individual schools.

Everyone is invited to attend these events recognizing women and girls in sports.

These are the free events you are encouraged to attend:

Feb. 10th, WBB vs. La Tech at 1:00 p.m. in the Don Haskins Center

Feb. 17th, Rifle vs. Nevada which will be all day at the UTEP Rifle Range

Feb. 18th, Golf Clinic. Time is to be determined

Feb. 24th, Softball vs. Idaho State/Portland State at 3:30 p.m./6:30 p.m. at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex

Feb. 25th, Tennis vs. Tarleton at 10:00 a.m. at the El Paso Tennis Club.
