The UTEP men's basketball squad was picked eighth in the Conference USA Preseason Poll, while standout senior forward Bryson Williams was honored with a Preseason All-Conference selection.

The All-Conference Team and Preseason Poll is voted by the league's 14 head coaches and was released on Thursday.

Fresh off his monster debut year with the Miners, Williams finished a First Team All-Conference season by averaging 17.8 points (3rd in C-USA) and 7.2 rebounds (5th in C-USA) for the Miners. He was a 49.9 percent shooter from the floor and led the team in blocked shots (29).

The Miners finished off an up-and-down season last year (17-15, 8-10 C-USA) with an 11th place finish in the league. They had six players elect to transfer from the program but they supplemented the talent with some high-caliber transfers like point guard Jamal Bienemy (Oklahoma), Keonte Kennedy (Xavier, sat out last season per NCAA transfer rules), Kristian Sjolund (Georgia Tech) and Christian Agnew (North Alabama).
