When Conference USA announced that they were moving their men's and women's basketball tournaments to Frisco, Texas beginning in 2018, I could not be any happier. For the last three years, C-USA held their postseason hoops tournament in Birmingham, Alabama. I enjoyed my first two trips to "The Magic City", and their Golden Flake potato chips were the highlight of my last visit. However, it was time for a change, and Frisco is the perfect site for a long-term partnership.

Frisco's new crown jewel is The Star, a 91-acre complex which is the headquarters for the Dallas Cowboys. It also houses the Ford Center, a 12,000-seat indoor facility which is shared by the Cowboys, city of Frisco, and their Independent School District. The Star will be converted into a basketball arena next March and C-USA will play their men's and women's tournament games in the new facility.

For UTEP fans, Frisco is great location since it is an easy trip for El Pasoans as well as fans from the other 13 cities in C-USA. Plus, the Miners have a great alumni base in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. Frisco is the perfect city for all of their supporters from the Lone Star State to visit and attend the C-USA Postseason Tournament.
