Though he didn't hear his name called in Thursday's NBA Draft, it didn't take long for Bryson Williams to land on an NBA Summer League roster.

Late Thursday evening, the Texas Tech graduate, UTEP standout and Fresno, Calif., native signed with Miami for Summer League, per Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated.

It's hard not to love the fit in Miami, as Woo suggests. If Williams excels in Las Vegas Summer League, there's a path for him to sign a two-way contract in Miami. Or, Williams could land a roster spot on the Heat's G-League squad Sioux Falls Skyforce. Miami's first Summer League game is on July 9 against Boston.

Williams started his college career at Fresno State and earned All Mountain West honors in 2018 before transferring to UTEP. He was a two-time All C-USA player in his pair of seasons with the Miners. He used his extra year due to COVID and transferred to Texas Tech this past season, where he made an immediate impact against some of the best teams in college basketball. He was named to the first team All Big 12 team, along with the Big 12 Newcomer team and helped Texas Tech to the NCAA Tournament.

Following two seasons with the Miners and a standout year at Texas Tech, Williams earned an opportunity with the NBA Scouting Combine and G-League Elite Camp. He impressed coaches and scouts, and even earned private workouts with Charlotte, Indiana, Orlando, among others. Now, he will get a shot to prove that he belongs in the NBA with the Heat.
