The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Sacramento River Cats (Athletics’ affiliate) 5-1 Thursday in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. Rico Noel went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and four stolen bases in the win for El Paso. Branch Kloess pitched 5.1 innings without allowing an earned run to pick up his second win of the season.

 

The Chihuahuas scored the first run of the game in the second inning on a home run to left field by Kyle Blanks, his sixth of the season. Blanks is now tied with two others for the third most homers in the Pacific Coast League. Chihuahuas’ catcher Adam Moore went 2-for-3 with a walk and has had multiple hits in four of his last five games.

 

Chris Rearick, Hector Ambriz and Bobby LaFromboise all had scoreless outings out of El Paso’s bullpen in the victory. The Chihuahuas have now won the first game in five of the six series they’ve played.
