After waiting nearly two years to return to the ring, heavyweight boxer David "El Nino" Rodriguez finally has the answer he's been waiting for. The El Paso native signed this week with Main Events Promotions and is scheduled to fight on December 14th. Rodriguez told the El Paso Times that he's relieved and is ready for the "biggest opportunity of his life."

No opponent has been named yet for the 36-year old fan favorite, who is 36-0 with 34 knockouts. Main Events Promotions was founded by Dan Duva in 1978, and they feature three heavyweights on their roster, including IBF International Champ Tomasz Adamek, Steve "USS" Cunningham, and undefeated prospect Vyacheslav "Czar" Glazkov. Main Events also have relationships with both NBC Sports Network and Home Box Office, which could help lead to a nationally televised fight for Rodriguez.
