Boston Comedian Slams New York Yankees’ Legend for Batting Antics
There are few people who embody the city of Boston, Massachusetts more than comedian Bill Burr.
A touring stand-up comedian known for multiple stand-up specials, and his Netflix animated show F is for Family, Burr is a loud, proud Bostonian, and never shies away from being identified as such.
To promote his newest stand-up ventures, Burr was welcomed into the NESN broadcast booth Tuesday night, during the Boston Red Sox game against Toronto. Naturally, the subject quickly turned toward the New York Yankees.
As the inning, and his appearance, began to near its end, Burr began his diatribe about the New York Yankees, and noted Red Sox foe, Derek Jeter. Alongside play-by-play broadcaster Dave O'Brien, and former Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis, Burr had this to say:
Naturally, the internet was divided into three camps. There were Red Sox fans, who ate up every word out of Burr's mouth during his speech. There were Yankees' fans, who scoffed at the notion that The Captain would do anything of the sort.
Then, there was the rest of baseball fans, who love nothing more than Red Sox and Yankees fans chirping back and forth at one another over something inane like this. It was a funny moment either way, and received a great deal of attention online.
Now, all eyes are pointed at New York City-based comedians, and we begin to wonder which NYC comic will start chirping David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez should they be invited into the YES broadcast booth.
Now that, I hope we get to see.
