For Aaron Jones, it was just a matter of time for his first big opportunity as a pro. The former UTEP star running back began his rookie season in the NFL as the fourth string running back for the Green Bay Packers. However, injuries to starter Ty Montgomery and fellow rookie backup Jamaal Williams allowed Jones his first taste of regular season action against the Chicago Bears. Jones responded with 50 yards rushing, a touchdown, and Lambeau Leap against his division rivals.

Yesterday afternoon, Jones was in the starting lineup for a key road showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. All he did was carry the ball 19 times for 125 yards and a touchdown. He also had a huge 15-yard run on Green Bay's game-winning drive. Afterwards, both head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers were asked about Jones' performance.

The former UTEP star running back met the media after the game and talked about his big game against the team he grew up rooting for.

When Montgomery returns from his rib injury, he will assume his starting role in the Packers' backfield. However, Jones is no longer an insurance policy for Green Bay. In fact, his performance against Dallas could have earned him a much larger role in McCarthy's system, especially since he prefers using two running backs instead of one.
