Kickstarting district action for 1-6A, Americas (2-0) and Pebble Hills (1-1) clashed on a rare Wednesday night game at the Socorro Student Activities Complex, where the Trail Blazers topped the Spartans 36-17.

Both teams underwent several postponements leading up to this game. They both entered the game with a win but neither school had played since week one.

Senior tailback Aaron Dumas put on a show for Americas, ending the night with three touchdowns en route to his sixth touchdown of the season.

Dumas opened up the game with a 51-yard rushing touchdown for the Trail Blazers. After the Spartans were able to record a safety and quarterback KJ Cooper tossed a passing touchdown to Jalen Partida, Pebble Hills found themselves with a 9-6 lead early into the game.

The Trail Blazers were able to retake the lead before the half with another rushing touchdown by Dumas, a receiving touchdown by quarterback/wideout Evan Chisolm from Jacob Caraveo, while the defense was able to force an interception. Dumas also chipped in with a pair of two-point conversions for the team.

In the second half, the Trail Blazers never looked back. They added another rushing touchdown by Chisolm in the third quarter and a 41-yard Dumas touchdown capped the game. A late touchdown by Marin for the Spartans wrapped up the game, with Americas improving to 2-0 on the year with a 36-17 victory.

Next up, the Trail Blazers will square off against another 1-6A powerhouse in Eastlake (1-0), while the Spartans face the Eastwood Troopers (2-0). The Falcons will face Franklin (0-2) on Thursday at the SAC.
