10 People You Should Definitely Be Tipping This Holiday Season
With the holiday season, and before the year is up, American's across the country are looking to give their thanks to workers by leaving a tip.
We hear it every year, tip you mail carrier, the person who keeps your house from looking like a disaster. But who else should you be tipping?
We recently discussed it on the Morning Show and even had a really great call about who should definitely be tipped this holiday season. There was also a survey conducted on who people will be tipping, and how much they plan on giving.
As for the usual- like wait staff, baristas and hair stylists- who you should ALREADY BE TIPPING- the survey said that American's plan to give them a little more extra this holiday season.
We also asked our listeners on social media to see who they believe should be tipped this holiday season, and all together- here are the ten people you should definitely be tipping this holiday season.
Housekeeper
Anybody who can keep your house looking good should be tipped this holiday season. In the initial survey, 47% of American's plan to tip and and the average is $50.
Babysitter or Daycare Provider
These are the people who make sure your children are safe and should be tipped. 41% of American's plan to tip and the average is $50.
Teachers
Speaking of people who keep your kids safe- 41% of parents believe in tipping a teacher and the average is $25 and it will usually come in the form of a gift card; which I totally believe you should do! Teachers do so much they deserve a little treat at the end of the year!
Landscaper or Gardner
If you have workers come take care of your yard- they definitely deserve to be tipped, 36% of Americans will do so and the average will be $30.
Mail Carrier
27% of Americans will be tipping their mail carrier and/or delivery workers and the average will be $20. I find it weird that only 27% of Americans will be tipping because mail carriers and delivery workers are workers that you hear you SHOULD be tipping every year! I never actually did this until last year when the pandemic began. I totally believe that the people working hard to bring your Amazon packages should be tipped!
Trash or Recycling Collector
I never knew you should tip the trash collectors! But it makes sense, these people are collecting your trash! Buzz says that his neighbors always leave a little treat for them and it's starting to make him look bad- so maybe this is the year he finally does it? 19% of Americans will tip them (let's raise that number this year!) and the average is $20.
Uber/Lyft Drivers
So this one wasn't on the original survey, but we did get lots of messages for this one! In fact, one of our frequent callers, Nice Tony, says that most Uber and Lyft drivers put up with a lot of B.S. and they definitely need to be tipped! So if you aren't already tipping your drivers, this holiday season you should do so!
Bartenders
Another one that wasn't on the original survey, but if you aren't already tipping your bartenders, who most likely also deal with a lot of B.S., then you need to start! For those who do tip them, they do say that this holiday season they'll give them a little extra for their work.
Veterinarian Techs
We got a call from our listener Dr. C, who is a veterinarian and highly suggested that those who leave their pets in the care of vet techs over the holidays, definitely tip them! They're taking care of your fur babies and are giving the the best care possible, so show them a little love this holiday season!
Tattoo Artists
First off, if you're not tipping your tattoo artists, you need to start. But this holiday season, if you're looking to gift yourself a tattoo- show them a little more love for their time.
