If you’ve driven by far east El Paso County around where the Eastlake Marketplace is you’ve no doubt noticed two things: (1.) how much traffic there is in the area now, and (2.) how it’s booming with all kinds of new construction.

Perhaps you’ve also become aware of a massive building going up next to the giant Amazon Fulfillment Center. No, it’s not a new retail outlet of some sort that will be home to more national franchises that we already have three or four locations of elsewhere in El Paso.

There’s some signage telling you what it is in front of the construction site posted next to the access road, but it’s hard to read when you’re on I-10 zipping by at 80 miles an hour (at least). If you’ve wondered what it is going to be, I got you.

Drum roll, please ...

The massive concrete structure is the beginnings of what will eventually be the Eastlake Logistics Park.

Logistics Park?

I know what you’re thinking because I thought the same thing. You’re wondering what a logistics park is, aren’t you? A logistics park, says the internet, is “an industrial area specifically designed for storage, management, distribution and transportation of various goods.”

According to the Austin Business Journal, Eastlake Logistics Park will “cater to tenants focused on cross-border logistics between the United States and Mexico.”

The Zaragoza Bridge port of entry, they point out, is about 4 miles away. And you thought there were already too many 18-wheelers in the area.
