New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez has entered one of the exclusive clubs in Major League Baseball. On Friday night he homered for his 3,000th career hit, becoming the 29th major league player to reach the milestone. Rodriguez wasted little time getting his 3,000th hit as he hit a home run in the first inning against Detroit ace Justin Verlander in the Yanks' 7-2 victory.

He joins Wade Boggs and Derek Jeter as the only other players to hit a home run as a their 3,000th  hit. Rodriguez as joins Hank Aaron and Willie Mays as the only players in MLB history with 600 home runs and 3,000 hits.
