USA 2, Mexico 0: See the Goals That Sent US Soccer to the World Cup
Incredible. There is no other way to describe it.
For the fourth time in 12 years, Columbus, OH, was the host for a soccer party featuring the United States Men's National Team, Mexico, and a 2-0 US win.
The win yielded just what Uncle Sam and 20,000 of his new besties in Columbus were hoping for -- a berth at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
With a sport that has relatively little accepted tradition in the United States, one of the few it is does have has now solidified it's place in American soccer history, if not its lore -- Columbus, Ohio, and Crew Stadium. It's not big -- just a touch over 20,000 -- but filled with the American Outlaws booster group chanting away, it's a red, white and blue cauldron.
With a fourth straight 2-0 US win over Mexico, Crew Stadium it is all but officially US Soccer's fortress. Think about it -- exactly that score against exactly that team in exactly that place for more than 12 years.
Again -- incredible!
